INFORMATION & SETTING
Rappaport's law strictly forbids any fraternization with non magical folk. Witches and Wizards have long been forbidden from any intermingling; no friendship, certainly no romance. Support for a repeal grows, though, and many fear North America's magical line dying out without fresh bloodlines. Mysterious disappearances tied to witch hunters have occurred throughout the magical community, however. So, which fear will win out? The fear of being wiped out or the fear of fading away?

Carlisle Weatherby

CARLISLE E. WEATHERBY

THUNDERBIRD
FOURTEEN
FEBRUARY 20, 1950
FOURTH YEAR
NEWPORT, CALIFORNIA
ASA BUTTERFIELD
Appearance
It happened so quick it did, growing over the summer. Carlisle didn't realize he had sprouted at least another four inches since he last measured himself. Or, his parents did at least. The little notches marked in the doorway to his room was proof of that. Now it marked a large 5'8, his most recent notch. It matched his abnormally large feet, didn't it? Lisle and his pale ghost like skin, with sky blue eyes and a dark mess of hair on his crown couldn't be more awkward looking. He hadn't truly grown into his height, his arms and legs lanky and clumsy looking. Tiny thing he was, but only because his metabolism was every teenage girl's dream.
Personality
What did Lisle do to deserve this? He had never wanted to be magical, never wanted to be special, or important. He wanted to stick to the shadows, never sticking out more than he absolutely needed to be. That was difficult once he started making things move, or spark, or change. It wasn't a surprise. He was born into it. Both his mom and dad were of the magical sort. Apparently, so had his grandparents, but that's not what this section is supposed to be about, is it? In any case, Carlisle never wanted to be associated with it. Try as you may to convince him otherwise, but he is stubborn like a bull.

Mr. Weatherby takes friends when he needs them. It isn't as if he won't act cordial, his parents taught him proper manners and such, but don't expect respect unless you earn it. The same goes for his honesty and loyalty. This doesn't mean that Lisle is unfriendly. Quite the contrary actually. While he isn't very outgoing or talkative, generally speaking you won't get hostility out of approaching him with conversation. He takes friendships very seriously, and those that are lucky enough to enter that circle of trust are probably some of his most prized accomplishments.

There are many things that Lisle dislikes, but that list is far too long and we have such short time here to discuss them all at great length. What is important is to understand that he isn't very forthcoming with information, is particularly withdrawn from most and has deep rooted distrust for those that possess magic (i.e the entirety of Ilvermorny).

He had chosen the right house, in his own opinion. Although Both Wampus and Thunderbird had wanted him, he chose the noble bird. It is said that Thunderbird house represents the soul of a wizard, one that favors adventurers. Lisle is a spirited individual with a lot of fight and determination. His heart is constantly being pulled in a million directions, and he hopes to one day venture past North America to discover the world elsewhere. Maybe then he would be able to live the normal, no-maj life he always wished for himself.

History
Wand: Willow, Jackalope Horn, 9 1/2", Supple

Mr. Carlisle Weatherby was born to two very strong, powerful wizards. It had been in the family, passed down from generation to generation. From as far back as anyone could remember, anyway. Some might call it lucky, he knew that in some parts of the world it was a treasure to have been able to say they were full of magic. In his case, that was certainly not the view he had taken. He loved his family, how could he not? They were wealthy enough and his parents loved him and his little sister more than life. Carlisle was happy. He really wasn't sure what was wrong with him. If they had lived under a no-maj roof, maybe things would be different.

As it was, they grew up on the beautiful beaches of Newport, California where the sun was always shining and tourists wrapped around every corner. Carlisle had been absolutely in awe of the no-maj and how they acted there. Being in such a populated spot certainly made maintaining Rappaport's Law difficult to keep up, but as a family they managed. It became a fun game for him, trying not to get caught. There were a lot of assholes in Newport, a lot of rich wealthy know it all's, and although they weren't Lisle's ideal people, they were almost always better mannered than those he came across that knew magic. The people friends with his parents, the ones that made him squirm. He hated them.

Because he saw was magic did to people. It made them cocky and impulse driven. It made them dishonest, a bunch of liars and thieves. Carlisle wanted absolutely no part of it. Not like his younger sister would ever understand. They were close, but once she caught wind of his desire to be free of the stuff, their relationship has been strained. It was like that with most of his family anymore. Though he was gifted a pleasant childhood, he was never at worry or strained for anything, he was just a brat, one that didn't like the wonderful cards he had been drawn.

Magic is an uncontrollable, temperamental sort. Even with a family of naturals, Lisle found it difficult to keep it in check. When he was accepted into Ilvermorny, his parents were thrilled, but expectant. He will go, despite his obvious desire to ignore it all. And go he did. Lisle was insistent that he was there simply for business, a formality, if you would. He would not interact with other young witches and wizards, and he would keep to himself, observing and learning what he could before he could be free to run from that part of the world. Back to the sandy beaches of Newport, where he could go back to pretending everything would be the same again.

When he walked to those large castle doors, Carlisle was in awe. The castle was much more than he had expected, and the other students that surrounded him came in all sort of shapes and sizes. His sorting was normal, average. Once he had seen both Wampus and Thunderbird's interest in him, he felt an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of his stomach. All those years of refusing to acknowledge Ilvermorny's existence didn't help him for this moment, here. How was he supposed to choose when he knew nothing about either house? With all of those eyes on and around him, Lisle sent a silent prayer to whatever God was out there, and turned in the direction of the glorious Thunderbird - starter of the storms.

If Carlisle had been confident about anything at Ilvermorny, it was that he chose his house. Although he would never admit it aloud, he cared deeply for his housemates, and prided himself on the way they carried themselves. After he was issued his wand, Carlisle finally felt like he was a part of the family he grew up in. It didn't change his views. He hated magic, the lot of it and hated those that were gifted it. The first few years of schooling made it quite clear to those around him that he was distrustful, and ungrateful for the pureness of his blood. He was so very talented, that much was clear the moment he lifted his wand. But talent did not make a wizard alone. He didn't care much for coursework, and actively fought any 'truth' a professor would spit at him.

Carlisle had limitless potential, but coming into his fourth year of school, it seems as though all that will be going to waste. He cares nothing about school, cares less about the people that surround him- give or take a few select individuals. Developing quite the paranoia for those around him, his only dream is to leave Ilvermorny forever and return to California. Maybe then he could disappear, run from the surname he lived with and start new.
